I finally got around to scrubbing 49 years of grime off the underside of the hood. Now the bottom is about as shiny as the top. I also know that this is all original paint because of all the drips and runs and California emissions sticker.

Nice hips!Time to get some groceries.

You’re garage pleases me like a where’s Waldo picture. After I undressed the car with my eyes, I enjoyed gazing at the bikes. If I’m not wrong, I think I see 3 specialized, a trek, a bmc, and a Jake the snake kona. The latter of which I've been half seriously considering for my own stable. I'm also appreciating the fine choice of pedals.

The kona is the oldest bike I ride, it has a shimano 7700 dura ace group and Rolf vector comp wheels. The black mtn bike to the left of the fender is my wife’s BMC speed fox. She also has the red specialized s works road bike and black red line cx. You can almost see my BMC road bike and her 95 stump jumper through the window. There are several more not in the photo, my stump jumper and my sons stump jumper. But you can see my epic really well.

I like bikes.

You and I are cut from the same cloth. My garage rafters are full of frames n wheels, and most floor space is covered in bike of one sort or another!

Have I mentioned I’m jealous of this car? Because I am.

That’s quite a collection. I divested all the bikes that don’t get ridden. There were a couple of 26" mountain bikes and a road bike.

The were one of the first true aero wheels that were not Mavic Cosmics. Pretty good for Criteriums, cold cruise at 27-30 mph without issue. The only issue I ever had was one broken rear spoke. Better than my Mavic Ksyriums or other prebuilt wheels I’ve had.

How did you clean it? When I ran the Power  Tour in our Mini I developed an exhaust leak about midway through and now I have a determined layer of soot baked into the lower surface of the hood. Someone recommended taking it off and power washing it.

I used simple green and a rag. I tried power washing but it didn’t even phase it.

I’m guessing that took a while.

Maybe an hour, but your mini is so much smaller.

That’s not too bad.  I spent an hour cleaning the back side of the engine with brake cleaner the other day.
